97 Disco SE7 Front end pull
I have a 97 Land Rover Discovery SE7 with 80k miles. It pulls to the left when letting off the accelerator while driving 50 - 70+ mph. Conversly it pulls to the right upon resuming accelerator pressure. Any suggestions on what might be happening?
Hello !
This sounds like some form or steering and/or radius arm play. Most probably radius arm play. Bushes on one arm being more worn than on the other.
The radius arms are the arms that connect the axles to the chassis, they are attached both ends by means of bushes and rubbers.
These bushes and rubbers wear and have to be replaced at intervals.
It is not easy to check by hand because of the weight of the components involved - a proper test rig is needed to check for excessive play,
Replacing the bushes is not expensive ad relatively easy to do. "Polybushes" or polyurethane bushes are best and longer lasting but more expensive than rubber ones.
I suggest that you replace the bushes and rubbers of the radius arms.(also check for general steering and linkage play).

Takeo.
