Default 98 Disco overheating

As the post says i have a 98 Disco with 181k miles on it. I just purchased it and drives fine around the city. However i noticed usually after driving for 20-30 minutes straight the temperature skyrockets into the red. Looking for troubleshooting options. Thanks!

there are TONS of "overheating" threads in the D1 section (and D2 section too!). Generally the problems turn out to be either some weakness in the cooling system: t-stat, radiator, viscous fan clutch.

or.. you have a blown head gasket allowing exhaust gases into the cooling system. You can get an 'exhaust gas' tester at your local auto parts shop.

I saw that, but I just wanted to post and check because I didn't see a post with the weird specific side of my vehicle of it running just run for some time then overheating very quickly. I will be trying the t-stat and a coolant flush hopefully today.
