Hello

Could anyone advise what I should be looking for when buying a used land rover or particularly a freelander from say 1999 to 2004?

I've got the idea from many adverts, from owner history that these land rover vehicles have a lot of inherent weaknesses.

turbo
rear diff & viscous coupling
clutch

How can i tell if any of the following are on there way out?

Each of these jobs are expensive.

Also what makes the land rover a better vehicle than the Honda CRV or Toyota RAV series?
