Another DiscoII Compression question thread
Getting ready to do a water pump/thermostat as I have been having some overheating issues but figured I should do a compression first to make sure this motor is worth doing it to. (First time dealing with rover motors, I primarily work with BMW's)
I let the car get to running temp and then pulled the fuel relay and fuse to begin the compression test. The results are as fallows:
1-155 2-180
3-180 4-175
5-180 5-175
7-180 8-160
Obviously there is some consistency with 175-180, but what do you guys think about cylinder 1 and 8 which are roughly 14% from the highest?
Continue with the coolant system repair or yank the heads? Car runs great otherwise.

i don't know about today, but in the days of old anything more than a 10-20% Difference from high to low should be considered suspect.
Number 1 and 8 are right next to the water jackets, so right off the bat that would make "me" suspect
Also was the throttle wide open when testing? if not you will get low inconsistent reading
