Default AWD not working

hey everyone i have a serious issue going on and I need some advice on fixing this issue. My AWD isn't working on my 2000 Disco SE7. My rear wheels work just find and my high and low range works just fine however my front wheels are not working. I found this out when i took it out in the snow and i got stuck just pulling out from the driveway. When i drive the car there are no unusual noises or vibrations or anything like that. Im an aircraft mechanic and even this has got me stumped. I have checked all the fluid levels in the differentials and transfer case and everything is in good shape. What could be the problem?

The center diff is normally an open diff and if you loose traction on either axle you won't go anywhere. TC is designed to compensate to a certain extent. In your conditions it should.

Your truck is 4wd not awd. If you need more traction install a shift linkage to engage the center locking diff.

if its 4wd wouldn't there be a button or shifter to engage the 4wd?

The center diff is an open diff. If your rear wheels had very little traction the bulk of the torque would be sent there. Was your traction control activating at all while you we're stuck? It should have noticed the wheel spin and applied brakes to the rear wheels to send torque back to the fronts.

The power always follows the path of the least resistance.
