Default Cant start my 98 LR Disco

I replaced the spark-plugs and some other maint. During the process i disconnected the battery. When attempting to start the SUV the starter would not turn over. It made a tick tick tick sound, like the battery was low. I checked and the battery is G2G. After tapping on the starter and checking all fuses I tried to start my Disco again. Now, the door licks are not engaging. There is some tick tick tick noise coming from the interior brain box, the dash lights are dim (like there is a major power draw somewhere), and then some odd metallic thumping emitted from somewhere by the radiator.

IDK what the ?@f!&:¥ is going on with this crazy 98 LR Disco 1!!!

Try holding down the alarm button for the hood (drivers side fender) as you disconnect and reconnect the battery

Thanks for the suggestion, but no dice. I charged the battery out of the car overnight. When I reconnected the battery the alarm system went off. After unlocking the doors the alarm stopped. However, when I attempted to start the vehicle the same problems with power draw and automatic locks became a problem. I did the trick with disconnecting the battery while holding down the hood sensor; which worked to get the auto doors to work again. The only problem is that the ticking and power draw continues and the starter will not turn over. WHAT NOW!

Sure it isn't something simple and silly like a corroded cable (maybe near the connector) or bad connection, either ground or positive lead? I always turn on the headlights and if I see that they are dim with a fresh battery then you know its a hi-resistance or bad connection / cable problem. Dach.
