Default center console cool box wont turn on Help please

I got a 2011 Range Rover Sport V8 i just picked up last week... and i love it

my car didnt come with a cool box and i wanted one so i bought a Cool Box for the center console off a auction and put it in today and it wont turn on...

I hooked it up to the factory harness.... the fuse behind the glove box is good..(car is in japan... drive on the right side so fuse box is behind passenger glove box)

i thought the unit might be bad so i took it out and hooked it up to 12V and its worked perfectly... light came on ... fan turned on... worked perfect..

so i put it back into my rover.. plugged it back into the harness and it wont turn on... check the fuse again and its fine... F16 (has a cute little bottle in a cooler so i know its the correct fuse)

anyone have any ideas why my cool box wont turn on ... please help me ...

everyone thanks in advance
Ryan

You need to take it to the dealer and have them turn that function on in the trucks computer, you cannot just plug something in and have it work out of the box.
Computers control everything so the computer needs to be told what to do.

thank you for the quick reply...

i went to the dealership and they said that the trucks factory option can not be reprogrammed.... if the cool box didnt come with the truck then i can never install one...

you are the first out of two people that said reprogram the ecu at the dealer...

any advice what i can do because the dealer seems as if they dont want or cant help me...

ill try another dealership tomorrow..

by the way what am i expecting to pay for the reprogramming?

thanks again

I have no idea what it would cost.
We have a LR tech who is on here once and awhile, maybe he can help you.
And I could be wrong on the re-program of the computer to turn it on.
I would say that if 2 or more dealers tell you "no go", then its a no-go.

well i talked to the range rover mech... he said that in the ecu you have to reprogram the configuration file... this file tells the computer what factory options to activate or not...

so im off to the dealer to try and get my box turned on .... wish me luck =)

well range rover dealership said that they did not have the new program for the 2011 range rover sport to activate my cooler box... they said i have to just wire it to the battery power.

can anyone guide me in how to wire the cooler box into the ACC.

the cooler box has only two wires coming out of it one green wire and one black wire.

where can i tap the wires in so i can turn on my cooler box on....

thanks in advance

You can tap into a switched fuse in the fuse box, like the radio.
Otherwise you can hard wire it to the battery and put a toggle switch in the cabin near you, switch it on when you want the cooler, switch it off when you dont.

When I drove semi we always tapped into the radio fuse to power our CB radio's, that way when you turned the ignition off the CB shut off also.
No wire splicing needed, just wrapped your wires around the fuse prongs and plugged it in.
