Default check engine light P0442

OK so my check engine light keeps coming on and throwing the code

P0442 - Evap System Small Leak Detected Fault

I was wondering if there are any common problems to throw this code? I know if the leak is small I will probably never find the problem. Any help is appreciated.

leaks in the fuel lines to the tank and fual cap can cause this.

You can make a basic homemade smoke tester, you can find" how to"vids on YouTube and I think I paid 30 bucks all together, mainly on a low pressure regulator and some length of rubber hosing. It's best to do it in darkness rather than bright lighting. And you'll need a decent bright flashlight, or uv light depending on which way you choose to go. I used incense and and powerful led flashlight.
update:
I finally got my p0442 code to go away, and to be honest. I'm not sure how, I made sure no smoke was coming from the fuel lines, or tank area. I put the old gas cap that came with the truck back on,and I replaced that damn little 35$ red plastic fitting on top of the intake (I think it's the hard plastic line that comes from the brake booster). Anyway, I know it's not much to go on but one of those 3 things did the trick. Good luck

I'd start by replacing the vapor vent solenoid (AIRTEX/WELLS 2N1016) for around $22.00. It's located right by the cruise control pump. To look up the part cross reference it off of a 2000 Chevy 3500 Express Van with the 5.7L V8.
