Default Clicking Noise When Off Accelerator

Hello, new to the forum. Have a 2003 Disco with 81,000. Runs great but a couple weeks ago I started to hear a "Clicking" sound when I let off the gas. The best way I can describe would be if the fan blade was moving slower and the blades were rubbing against something. That was just for clarification...it is not the fan. I can hear it more when the windows are up and with them down, it sounds like maybe coming from tranny. Only does it at speeds above 15 mph and ONLY when I let up on the gas. Any ideas?
Thanks,
W

Have your front driveshaft inspected for slop in the u-joints.

Spike, would that be for D1's as well? Mine just started making similar noise at 15 - 20+, straight or turning makes little difference, does change when braking. I greased all the fitting on the drive shafts and u-joints - then the noise started. I noticed my front shaft had an LR parts sticker on it, and a whole bunch of scratch and impact marks on the floor board above the end of the shaft near the transfer case; so I thought maybe the PO had updated the shaft.

No, on a DI u-joint wear will show up as a vibration while driving at low speed or most often not taking grease anymore.
On a DII because of the double cardon it tends to make noise before it fails, not always, but most of thew time, this is because of all the parts to it.

I would not drive your truck until you get the new driveshaft installed.
