Question Clicking from under drivers side while driving? HELP???

My 1997 Range Rover has started a clicking/ticking noise which seems to be coming from the drivers side front area. I checked the boots on the CV joints, and there in not a break on either side. So could this still be my CV, or am I looking at something more serious? Thanks in advance for any help.

UPDATE, It's not a continuous sound it will stop sometimes while driving, and sometimes it doesn't start when I pull off from a stop. Also it doesn't start as a click but more of a low chirpy-whiney rub sound. It also doesn't do it when I turn the wheel hard either direction and drive around in a circle.

Also can anyone tell me the best way to lube, or grease the CV, to see if that makes it stop. And thanks once again for any help you can offer.

No, I have not checked it but I will as soon as it stops raining. Thanks for the help. If that is it I should be able to grease it to see if it stops right?

I do not think the u-joints on the RR are greasable, repair or replace only as far as I know.
Do not drive it anymore, if it breaks you are talking serious damage.

When I looked I noticed that I have a broken sway bar on the same side, could that be putting more pressure on the tie rod end and causing it to make the noise?

No, a broken sway bar won't hurt the tie rods unless it's against them.
Depending on what the break looks like, the two pieces could be rubbing against each other, or something else, and causing your chirping.
Unless the propshaft is at imminent failure, the only way to thoroughly check it is to remove it, or at least disconnect one end and make sure the u-joints move without any binding and aren't at all loose.

So would the U joints cause both types of sounds, the clicking sometimes or the chirping at another time? And would they be intermittent or constant. Also is there anything else that would be a definite tell that it's the U joint. And once again THANKS!!!!! for all your help!

Yes u-joints can make a variety of sounds.
It can also be accompanied by a vibration at low speed, like under 45mph.
If it has grease fittings grease it, if new grease does not come out of all four caps on each u-joint then it is bad and needs to be replaced.

If it's been chirping/squeaking it's too far gone for grease to save it.

my only question is which one is it there are two in the area where the noise is comming from which could it be. where can i find tutorial on how to change the u joint, if done a lot of repairs but not this one, i have a basic idea just want to be sure i dont skip a step. also can anyone tell me a simple way to repair a particialy stripped transmission drain pan bolt, like where can i find a over sized bolt to replace the damaged one. thanks

UPDATE!!!! I greased the u joints and the noises almost completely stopped. I know I just put a "band-aid on a broken leg", but it might buy me a enough time to get the parts to do the repairs. Still need the help on the transmission drain bolt. Thanks.
