Code p705-Transmission Sensor switch???
I am not sure what this code means, but when I had my diagnostic run on my 2000 DiscoveryIIvehicle they said it means the transmission sensor switch is malfunctioning. I have tried to find the part for this, but I can't anywhere. Am I missing something or is it under a different part name? Anyone?
this is a good one... its your xyz sensor, or trans range, or inhibitor switch, or any number of other names... anyway, heres what you need to check... make sure that you always have both the red led next to the shifter lit up in the correct gear, and that the dash display of the selected gear is the same. and heres where it gets good... there is a little known 'issue' with this sensor, and effects about 5 percent of discos out there, it seems to sometimes just lose power, for no good reason, rovers fix was to wire it up to a new power source, but thats more of a last shot type deal, check your leds, and make sure that when a gear is engaged(like drive when youre stopped) you cant move the shifter enough for the light to go out or change
Awesome! Thanks so much. Right now I am not experiencing any problems other than sometimes upon start-up the (m) & (s) modes flash, but if I turn-off and back on, it goes away. The only other thing I get, and I don't know if it has anything to do with this sensor, but when I turn the vehicle off, if I don't make sure to turn to the II click spot (engine off, but radio still on), then push in and pull out, the entire systems shuts down. I have to set off the alarm to get the II and III click spot to work on the key. ( in other words i have to lock the steering wheel, and keep playing with it, until I set off the alarm, then it will work, but then the radio shuts off, and the a/c temp goes back to celcius. That is the only problem that I am having, and I thought it was the battery on my key, so I changed it, but it keeps happening. Any ideas?
