Smile disco 1 ABS - my brakes hit the floor!

Hi,

Im not sure how to diagnose my problem but my brake pedal hits the floor. I've already changed the pads (5months ago), I bled the brakes but the pedal still hits the floor. I have looked for leaks but dont seem to find any. The only thing I can think of is replacing the master cylinder.

Can anyone offer some advice and let me know if I'm on the right track? Or maybe i should be looking into something else.

Thanks

Check the brake booster vacuum line for cracks.
If thats good then replace the master cylinder but do not buy a aftermarket one, you must use a Land Rover branded one, if not you will have problems after install.

Thanks Spike555, ill check the booster vacuum line. Also, i usually buy my parts from Atlantic British LTD (roverparts.com) becuase it is less expensive than the dealer. Can you recommend anywhere else?

Again, thanks so much!

Unhappy The Master Brake Cylinder wasnt the problem

So after changing the MBC, the problem has not been fixed. Ihear some type of air pressure being released right from the servo where the MBC sits atop. I have to pump the brakes in order to stop the Disco.

I dont see any leaks, i dont see any lines are cracked and i just changed the master brake cylinder.

Can anyone guide me as to how to approach this problem? Is itthe servo and if so, how can i test it?

Any further help will be appreciated.

Thanks!

If you hear air then there is a vacuum leak, the brakes work off of engine vacuum.

So, after replacing the MBC and not being able to identify the problem, I took it to the shop so they could diagnose it, The told me the ABS modulator was the problem. I read that it is not a serviceable part and must be replaced.

Could the ABS modulator really be the problem and cause my brakes to go soft? so much so that i have to pump it a few times to stop? The brake fluid reservoir is good and I havent detected a leak. Also, didnt detect an air leak with the servo hose or servo itself.

So, could the ABS Modulator be the problem?

Any advice on this would be great. Thanks again for your help everyone.
