Discovery 2 - Water Pump failure - again!
Hello, I'm new here, hope to be able to contribute and help others in the future.
However, at the moment, I have a problem.
A couple of months ago, my water pump failed whilst I was driving. This resulted in me needing a new water pump, belts and a new power steering pump.
Two months down the line, I've just had the same problem happen again, the new water pump has failed and the belt and pulley have come off.
Is this normal? Is this likely to be a fault during the repair, or am I just unlucky?!
Any advice would be very welcome.
Thanks, iain

Viscous clutch/fan should have been replaced with water pump. It could also be a faulty harmonic balancer, one of the ancillaries or idler pulleys is wobbly from bad bearings or whatever. If you didn't replace the viscous fan, start there, look hard at the largest damper for the rubber separating from the center and then watch it with the engine running for the belt dog tracking.
