e brake will not catch
so i had my console removed, yesterday. I removed the cable from the hand brake, in doing so. I guess I hyper-extended it or something stupid, because after reassembly it does not work right. It does not have tension on the holding gear. so it does not make the rapid click and catch on the up motion. I can give it a stout slap and the release button will pop out as it should. I can then pull it up and it makes no gear clicking sound but will sometimes catch and hold. I push the release button and again the button will not pop out unless I slap it around.
Did I miss something? is there a spring that I do not know about? I do see that while extended with the cable off, the gear catch can swivel to the wrong position. I checked about 15000 times and that is not the case. any ideas?
thanks

I had the same problem earlier this year. There is spring in there somewhere... can't remember details off the top of my head. Wound up replacing the lever with one from the junkyard, along with the cable. (It was seized, probably a separate issue.) Problem free ever since.
If disco 1 I had this problem, not sure I fixed it but is working
Yes the latch can flip backwards, I flipped it correct, then put on the handle and button was stuck think I pulled the grip up some and it released the button has worked since, hope this helps
