Electrical, wobble, codes, idle probs, yeehaw!
How's it going fellas! So here's what Ive done to this old girl to begin with. I soldered the circuit board to fix the window. I've had to replace a signal socket and pigtail on the passenger side and here's where I'm running into prob number 1. It's all new from Atlantic British. It blinked when I installed it and now it doesn't. Repairs are solid. I'm thinking it's a corroded or loose ground somewhere but I can't find it. I found a grounding point on the passenger side and wire brushed all the connections but I don't think it was the correct one because it still doesn't work and the fuse is fine. Any ideas?
Now for the speed wobble, I've read the way to methodically approach it and here's what I've discovered so far. There's a lot of play rotational wise in the steering rod going into the steering gearbox when the car is not running. The steering damper as very sad looking and needs replacing. None of the tie rods move when I yank on them in any direction. I've got brand new tires on it and they're balanced. Have not been able to jack it up and move wheels to check ball joints/bearings.
Replaced deteriorated vaccume lines.
I've got codes P1448 and P1496 and replaced purge valve and charcoal box thingy. I'm also replacing the throttle body and intake manifold and idle regulator. Right now it starts up only on the second try and after it warms up the rpm drops so low it wants to die and as long as I give it a touch of gas, it stays running no problem. Is there a way to increase idle rpm with a screw somewhere?
Any info about all this would be greatly appreciated! The more I work on this car the more I like it!
