Cooling system expansion tank overflow

Default Cooling system expansion tank overflow

Hi,

I have a 2005 Freelander SE, and i have been experiencing an overflow of the water in the expansion tank after 5 mins of running the engine.

how can i fix this?

gotta find the cause, before you can fix it.


5min = time to get up to operating temp.
would be good to have accurate coolant temp and I would test for gasses in the coolant.

The 2 most common cause for this is either you have a bad coolant pressure cap or a cracked coolant bottle which, once they start cracking, don't repair well.
Has your engine overheated at all recently?

Thanks for the responses

No the engine hasn't overheated. even with this problem the temperature does not cross the normal level till all the coolant runs off.

the coolant bottle and cap has also been replaced
