Default Engine light

Hello, new guy to the forum, had my Disco for a few years. Recently my Engine light came on and so I had it read at the dealer. The codes came back as #1 & #2 banks both running lean. I was told that the most common answer to this would be my MAF sensor or fuel filter. I bought a new fuel filter but have no idea where it is on the truck. The most common places that I was told was on the frame under the passenger rear seat, but it's not there. There is some charcoal canister there instead. I was also told by the dealer to look for an access panel behind the passenger rear tire. There is no access panel. Anyone have any clue where it might be now? Hopefully not in the tank. Also as far as my MAF, could I just clean the wires inside the sensor. I know that I can do it on my Thunderbird. Has anyone heard anything about doing this? Thanks for the help, MAC

Tell us what year your Discovery is. On the Disco II model there is no external filter, only a "sock" filter on the fuel pump which is in the tank. About the only cleaning you can try on the MAF is to remove it, and spray into the inlet side with a carb cleaner WHILE HOLDING IT IN A HORIZONTAL position. Don't insert any tool, brush, or anything else into the unit for you will damage it. This cleaning only works some of the time. And-- don't blow any compressed air through it to facilitate drying it out or again, you will damage it.

If you do need a new MAF, I have them on the site for a good price and they are in stock. But I do need the model year.

Regards,
Geoman

I have a 2000 Disco II. If there is no external filter, then what did I buy at autozone? That was one of the few things that they actually had for my truck.

Give me the part number on the box, and the manufacturer--- then maybe I can tell you.
