Engine noise on radio
It is mostlikely alternator noise, especially if it rises and falls in pitch with the rise and fall of the rpms.
THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT THE ALTERNATOR IS BAD!!!!!!!
The most common reason: your battery teminals are a little corroded. Clean all of the connections, protect them with a little petroleum jelly. This is probably all that you need to do.
Should this not work, have your parts store do a dynamic test on the starting and charging system to determine the weak part. It could be battery, alternator, voltage regulator, a slipping fan belt, or just a loose connection. It is usually something maintenance-related, and not one of the pricey parts.
