Default Fuel Pump help needed

can a universal fuel pump be installed on a 99 Disco II? And or do I have to drop the gas tank to install a new fuel pump?

no you don't have to drop the tank but a universal one will play havoc with your fuel system if it runs too high or not enough amps to make it run.

besides are you sure its a fuel pump and not a crankshaft position sensor?

There's probably an AC Delco pump that you can use to replace the actual pump with (as opposed to replacing the whole assembly) but I have no idea what the PN is.
On the D1 doing that saves you about $200 or more.

Thx. Not sure its the fuel pump. I did check the valve stem type preasure check and there was no gas in it. I checked the spark plug wires for spark and theres spark. I switched relay switches and that wasn't the problem either. I cleaned the MAF sensor. Right now I can't afford to take it to a mechanic.

Disco II. I'm not getting any spark on plug wires and no power to pump. I had someone with a lot more exp. and he gave up. He told me it might be the alarm system that is not resetting? But there isn't a land rover mechanic in the town I live in. Closest is 2 hrs away in san diego.

heres the deal, first its the crankshaft position sensor. But if you want to check it out. check for power at the relay. secondly jump the relay. if the pump runs its good. open the fuel cap and have someone listen for it.
