Default gas gauge fluctuating

I have a question why my gas gauge would sometimes be up and sometimes will show empty even when I just pumped gas in it? Does it have anything to do with air filter replacement? After a few minutes of driving, it goes back up again! Weird!

Why would it have anything to do with an air filter?????
You have a bad sending unit that is sticking and the only correction other then tearing your pump apart and trying to correct the float would be to replace the fuel pump. Where did you come up with the air filter concept?

It coincidentally started happening after I replaced my air filter! I just had a new fuel/air filter replaced a few months ago! Maybe it's defective!

Maybe what's defective? There are no filters anywhere on the truck that are going to effect your fuel gauge. The fuel level sender in the tank is the only thing that could be defective and case your fuel gauge to read wrong.

What year is your truck and how many miles?
