Manual cars should have a LT77 or LT77s box, autos should have a ZFHP22 and BOTH need ATF to Dexron 2 or 3 standard.
89 was the changeover year for transfer boxes so you'll need to make sure which you have, LT230's need EP90 or EPx 80/90 high pressure gear oil to API GL4 - note: do not use GL5 it's not a 'logical progression' from GL4. Borg Warner T-boxes use ATF to Dexron 2/3. Putting EP90 into a Borg Warner box is a recipe for disaster - so definitely check which you have before changing it - don't rely on the colour/viscosity of the oil that's in there, found this out to my cost with my Defender, as the previous owner/servicer might have got it wrong.
