Default Glitchy 2008 LR3

I have a 2008 LR3 with 19K miles - I take really good care of it...

My car is at the dealer now and they say nothing is wrong so I thought I'd get some advice here:

Last week my park distance went haywire - faulty sensor found & replaced (the one problem they found & fixed).

Last week my stereo went completely out (could turn on and off, remove cds, but no sound at all - no radio, no cd sound) - the next time I turned the car on later in the day it worked perfectly.

Last week my nav system was glitchy - I had voice guidance on, but when it was time to tell me when to turn there was no voice - just the muting of the front speakers every time the voice was supposed to give directions. I reset the nav system and it's fine now.

This past Tuesday my LR3 completely died - I was accelerating from a stop on a hill and sometimes there's some lag there, but this time the rover just died. It restarted and has been fine, but I dropped it at the dealer that afternoon.

Dealer said they tried everything - no fault codes, talked to their engineers, tried to re-create the problems, but everything is working fine. 4 things wrong in a such a short period is really worrisome to me on a car with less than 20K miles. Thankfully still under warranty for 11 more months... but after that?!

Feedback? Thanks!

It sure is a load of issues. Sound like a electrical harness issue.
What do you mean by "my park distance went haywire - faulty sensor found & replaced"

Sorry for not being more specific - the park distance would not work - instead it would emit a high pitched warning beep and the orange light would flash. They were able to confirm that I had a faulty park distance sensor and they replaced a sensor.

They weren't able to figure out why my stereo, nav, and engine all had problems within 5 days of each other. They just want me to come pick my car up...

About a year ago I had a major water leak through my closed sunroof (all the fabric around my windshield was soaked complete with a puddle on the driver's side mat) - so I wondered if these electrical problems may be a delayed, but related problem - the dealer said they checked fuses for water intrusion yesterday and everything was fine.

Now we are talking. That leak would produce all those issues you are having, and checking the fuses would tell nothing about it. Sorry, to say, but the best that could happen is that it gets worse sooner than later so it becomes obvious and permanent issue and not intermittent.

Thanks Leadfoot - is there anything I can have checked or fixed now that would show water damage? I just don't want to wait for more problems and would like to get this resolved while under warranty.

The Water intrusion "Feature" is common unfortunatley - I have also had the unexplained radio mishap, and worse, am experiencing it right now.. With 130,000 miles I'm out of warranty, but have had the radio replaced, thanks Rover :-/ but the problem never resolved, eh hmm, the Feature never resolved.. It was designed to shed water intrusion through the A pillars via duct work or tubes, if you have heavy rains - you'll have the same issues.
all things considered it has been the best Rover I've owned, I still have the 87' but after 4 years rid myself of the first Love, a 99' P38a 4.6 HSE - that LOVED maintenance and I loved it back to the tune of $17,000 in various reapirs and maintenance .. at any rate, breathe realx and take the good times to heart, you'll have plenty with this vehicle.
Side note, carry a beach towel for the heavy rain days, park uphill and place it in front of the NAV screen (as an option, I remove the center light from the front and let it hang, shove a second towel in there to help prevent what I'm dealing with now..)
left for two days on a train, not expecting rain, returned to a boat anchor radio
Good Luck
Terry

I had one in the shop last winter with similar symptoms. Ended up being a chaffed harness that ran down the drivers side beside the driver seat, next to the rocker.

There must be codes stored.
These vehicles will not just stop running, have the electrical problems you described and not store codes even if it happened once.
There are 20 plus systems that can and will log fault codes.
Can't say the dealer is doing anything wrong though, part of a proper diagnosis is to verify the customer complaint.
It is possible that your vehicle had too many logged faults to pinpoint a problem, all the codes were cleared,
and now they want you to drive it. When the fault(s) re occur, you bring it back in for them to read the codes.
Water leaks can cause many electrical issues. All of which should flag a fault code of some sort in the respective system that is affected

radio issue- the front entertainment system isnt responding probably throught the most system. make sure all your entertainment system is up to date with all the latest software.

stalling - common issue with maf readings to throttle response. issue- excessive carbon build up just clean the throttle body.
