Cool Have 98 Disco, need suggestions.

My wife just bought a 98 DISCO V8i and I get to work in it. She bought it at an auction for $4800.00 with 87k mil. Clean body, intr. is ruff. I know. She took a chance without driving it. I drove it home and it sounds good, the brakes are spongy and the back roof hatch doesn't open and the back door leaks. There isn't an operator manual and I have no info on the last owner or maintenance records. The only problem I had was with the trans. when putting her into Drive she wouldn't go past Natural. She would backup OK so I took a hard thrust with the shifter from Park to move her into Drive and that worked.[:-] I haven't had a problem going on ten days now. I've been reading the posts and have learned a lot about my wife's new (truck)... I like to work on vehicles, if the environment is good. “I know, fair weather backyard mach.” Although, I don’t have a manual or the knowledge to do so. I’ve been checking the forums and see that they are very helpful. I think my wife has done well. Any suggestions on the above mentioned, much appreciated.
