HELP! 00' RR, lots o' problems
so i bought a used 2000 range rover 4.6 hse at the end of 2006. of course with all used cars, everything seems kosher until about the 5th month into having it.
here are the problems-
1. i can lock the doors, but sometimes without rhyme or reason all the doors won't unlock all together. and that great security "feature" of the car thinking someone has broken in no longer becomes a feature when you're sitting in a parking lot for 3 hours trying to get all the doors to unlock together. on numerous occasions i've stood there, locking, unlocking, locking, unlocking, i looked like i was ocd.
-land rover said they could fix this for $600. anyone know of a cheaper fix so i can actually lock my doors and get into my car? would an aftermarket alarm fix this?
2. when it rains my sunroof leaks. the car reeks of wet dog. and even sometimes when it rains, water will leak out of the dome light. this is fun when i'm taking a left turn and all the water that has accumulated in the light comes pouring out on me.
-solution?
3. the windows & sunroof will decide randomly that they no longer want to go up or down at 1 touch.
-why?
4. i haven't decided if i'm a fan of the automatic leveling system yet or not. when the car levels out at the in middle point i push the button so it will stay like that. that's how i drive it at all times.
-is that bad? should i just let it level out like it's supposed to?
5. this has just recently started happening. when i start the car and about 3 minutes after, this noise comes from the passenger side- it sounds like it's behind the glovebox. it sounds like a ball is bouncing. it's actually a funny noise, everyone laughs when it happens. it happens in the same interval every time. it makes the "bouncing" sound once, 2-3 seconds later it does it again, immediately followed by the final "bouncing" sound.
-what the hell is that?
upon the 3rd time the car broke down and left me stranded, i pushed it into a parking space saying, "i won't quit you.".......no, i don't want to become a range rover hater, but in a year and a half time span i shouldn't have to go through all this. right? i had a lexus for 7 years, it never once broke down or caused me this much hell. someone please reassure me that the new range rover sports aren't this much of a headache, because that's what i'm looking at next.
when i bought the car it had 130k miles on it. thinking that these things run forever, the high mileage didn't stop me. it now has 160k miles. am i right that these things run forever?
