Default High reving 4.6

Hey Forum! I have a Range Rover P38 4.6. Upon starting the engine, the rpms jump to approximately 2000 requiring meto shift out of park/neutral andinto drive.Anyone else experience this or can pointme in the right direction of a diagnosis? Thanks for any and all input.

I know this is going to sound like a stupid question but here it goes...Where is the idle control unit located?

If its the same engine as my 4.6 the (IAC Idle Air Control ..Valve)
Bosch unit that actuates extra air controlled seperately of the throttle body.
It has 1 inch hoses going from intake tube after air filter to the intake manifold after the throttle body.
Remove clean out carbon deposits and replace. Its probably the same as mine on 03 disco unless they didn't use bosch yet that year.

Good luck, take pictures, ask questions.
