I have had hot start problems for over a year now and I am very frustrated. I have replaced the following: Fuel pump relay, fuel pump fuse, fuel pump, mass airflow sensor, stepper motor, throttle position sensor, both coolant temperature sensors on manifold, fuel temp sensor, main engine wiring harness (worked for a few weeks), battery and crank position sensor. I have also replaced all four O2 sensors (i know, long shot, but I'm desperate). It starts twice in a row, but requires me flooring the accelerator on a third start in a row if the engine is hot. The engine cools and starts just fine after about twenty minutes. HELP!!

 

When it will not start do you have fuel pressure at the fuel rail?
If so what is the PSI number?

 

Thanks for the reply - I have not tested the fuel rail pressure at the fuel rail. How is this done - at the release valve on the rail? Also, what can I use to test? - not quite a novice, but I have not done this before

 

the best tool would be a fuel pressure gauge...$25-$40.00 , but you can use a tire pressure gauge at the fitting on the fuel rail for a quick check...you should get 32-36 psi when you turn the key to the second "on" position without actually starting the truck. let us know what you find
