Houston, I thinks we have a dead coil
Hi folks,
A week ago I posted about all the mods I've been doing to my black Disco 2. I was getting codes for upstream O2 sensor errors (I installed eBay cheapies and they failed) I replaced them with better versions from Bosch and the engine purred with the new coil packs, ignition wires (not magnacor 8MM) and new plugs (Bosch 4+) until it hit operating temperature and above 2200RPM.
I could tell right away, it was missing on more than one cylinder. I checked all the connections, coil pack and plugs, all sung. The MAF was cleaned as well.
So, I shut the engine down, fearing damage to my shinny new Magnaflow exhaust system and plugged-in the ODB2 reader. Low and behold, I am getting P1300, P0300, P0301-306-304 & 307, which tells me that I have a failing coil, oh, to boot, I have a P0447 just for fun, so I'll replace the eVap.
I am thinking I should just replace the plug wires with NGK or Magnacor and test the plug spark, if the spark test fails, out come the new coil packs with newer Bosch CPs.
Or could this be fuel pump or schrader valve related...I'm stumped and my Landy is becoming a dark horse.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Greg
