Default How reliable are Land Rovers?

Im thinking about buying a new car and i was wondering how does the Land Rover(Not Range Rover) compare to the bmw x5, audi Q7, and mercedes gl. I know Range Rovers are really good cars and that Land Rovers are a step down from the Range Rovers but how does it scale to the other cars mentioned above?

First off Land Rover is the brand Range Rover, Defender, Discovery, and LR2/LR3/LR4 are the models.

If you're good about maintaining a vehicle like a BMW, Mercedes, Audi, and following the service intervals then yeah a Discovery, LR2/LR3/LR4 can be great vehicles. If you never lift the hood, or do your own oil changes/repairs then it can be $$$$.

I've owned Japanese, USA, and English vehicles, and I find Land Rover's to be my favorite. Yes they're more delicate than a USA/Japanese vehicle, but they're also more unique, and more fun.

If you want something you can learn about, work on, and enjoy it for being unique then go for it, but if you want something that never breaks down or cost you money then a Land Rover is not for you.
