I Hate To Even Ask This Question.....
97 Disco/Auto..
I've read and read and read looking for the answer....Immobilizer, is there a definitive answer to whether it can be by-passed or not? Most threads seemed dated......as if folks gave up and gave into cash for clunkers... Mine is a US model, no spider connection under the radio, I have the green box. I tried the black/orange wire thing with a no start result.....This thing has left me stranded a couple times, there has to be a fix.
Am I chasing something that hasn't been resolved?
Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Trucks in the U.S. do not have the immobilizer. Looked for one on my 97 and never found it. My 'leaving me stranded' problem ended up being the inertia switch wiring connectors under the hood.
Check the electrical manual under a NAS model (North American System)

I have a 1995 D1 and the same thing with the inertia switch happened. As I recall from many years ago..I stripped back the two wires that feed the switch under the hood twisted them together and it started right up. Might have left the truck disconnected from the battery for an hr prior to that.
Went the next day out to the salvage yard and grabbed another one. Heat shrunk the exposed wire and that as that.
You would probably be good starting off with a rave manual from the beginning on trouble shooting than listening to guesses though.
Good luck

I usually start there, showing good effort to the elites/Super/moderator/anti...well you get the idea... on the site and then try to cheat and draw them into the testing as I go to skip a step or two...

While I did a lot of searching, prior to asking, thus why I hated to ask.....there was no clear answer from users on forums, and no reference's from/quoted from the RAVE manual.........also the last time this was brought up through searching at least was like 2013 and older.....nothing current.
Thus......I hated to ask but I did........
also, does the RAVE get updated?
Thanks for your insight!

Well, I see updates on the manual but that could have been from a long time ago. I will pull mine out in the morning and see what the dates are on it. I know they have a shop manual and an electrical troubleshooting manual. Do you have both? If not I can post it in the cloud for you.
As a newb, I didn't know there was two so please post away.
I have gotten some great advise from a couple members here though on a couple different subjects which was greatly appreciated...
The things I've had time to mess with on the D1 for the last week or so you won't find in any manual.....lol...
