Depends on where you are located.
If you are in the US then no, a DII transmission will not work in a DI but the trans from any year DI will.
I am assuming you have a automatic transmission.

Tell us what happened and why you think it blew, when was it last serviced, how is the fluid level and what is it doing wrong?
An no way will a D2 tranny fit a D1 not here or across the pond.

True, however the DII was introduced in '98 in Europe so if he had a '98 DII then the transmission from a 2000 would work just fine.
Thats why I asked where he was located.

Yeah that’s sucks that it’s not going to work. Okay so I was going downhill fast and in a stupid move I had to stop there was someone pulling right in front of me and in the end I pulled the e-brake and when he got out of the way I let it off and go to the bottom and released that I wasn’t getting power to my tires.
So I ended up trying low and everything I could to go forward and it would not move in leas I backed up the hill and get in to a higher gear so I ended up backing it up (reeves works) to my house so I can’t see how it can be anything else but the tyranny

Well the parking brake is not meant for stopping, it is meant for parking.
You will need to look under the truck while a friend tries to move it, make sure you are not in the way of the wheels.
Which drive shaft moves?
