Default iddle 80% okay but over1500 rpm cuts of like running out of petrol please help new member

89 range rover fuel or electrical problems which i don't know but change fuel pump didin't make any good

Have you checked fuel filter, ususally located near fuel tank, on my '93 it is at the botton of right hand wheel arch.

Think I can steer you in the right direction, as a few of us here at work drive the Range Rover Classic and have almost "seen it all" on this model. Thesymptoms you describe are exactly those that happen when the alternator is failing. These vehicles are "hungry" for aconsistent output of at 13.2 volts from the alternator. Once the battery cannot supply enough current, the engine starts to misfire above idle, and typically the tachometer needle starts to flucuate, if not outright drop to zero.

And yes-- it feels like a failing fuel pump or packed up filter.

So have the charging system checked out --- including checking for loose connections on the back of the alternator.

Meant to say a output of "at least 13.2 volts" from the alternator

This is Chris (Jazzmus011) Thank you so much about your advice to look alternator voltige I strongly belive that's the problem soon as I find the electrical short in alternator and fixed it everything goes back to normal now I am about the have a test run and see.... thank you so much WE done it.
