Have you checked fuel filter, ususally located near fuel tank, on my '93 it is at the botton of right hand wheel arch.

Think I can steer you in the right direction, as a few of us here at work drive the Range Rover Classic and have almost "seen it all" on this model. Thesymptoms you describe are exactly those that happen when the alternator is failing. These vehicles are "hungry" for aconsistent output of at 13.2 volts from the alternator. Once the battery cannot supply enough current, the engine starts to misfire above idle, and typically the tachometer needle starts to flucuate, if not outright drop to zero.

And yes-- it feels like a failing fuel pump or packed up filter.

So have the charging system checked out --- including checking for loose connections on the back of the alternator.

regards,

Geoman

Meant to say a output of "at least 13.2 volts" from the alternator
