Default iLAND Plip / keyfob programming

Does anyone here have a story of success programming a used keyfob to a Discovery 2 using the iLAND tool from Atlantic British? I bought it specifically for this, I have found where to program the plip in the application, but I believe it's out of sync with however it generates codes. I can't find anywhere in the iLAND app to resync the key fob. If I test the plip, it says it's already programmed, so I know the Disco security thing is seeing the transmission from the fob.

I feel a bit foolish, I should have called them and asked if it could do this before I bought it. It was a toss up between trailering the Disco and driving it a few hundred miles to a shop that could do it, or buying the iLAND and doing it myself. Of course I wanted to do it myself.

Hi Tidder!

I reached out to our support team about your question and I'm waiting for their response.

Cheers!

Thanks! I called today and talked to Brian briefly about it, he told me the main support dude was out of the office but would be back tomorrow. Figured I'd try my hand in the forum to see if I'm just an idiot and couldn't find it, or I'm an idiot and bought something I assumed could do something it couldn't (and didn't bother to ask beforehand).

Thanks for the reply! I'll hold off on calling tomorrow and wait for a reply here instead, probably would be a good thing for everyone to know.

Hey Tidder,

So the support team got back to me this AM, and what happened is the app didn't close the diagnostic session properly with the ECU. They recommend backing out of the app all the way to the Vehicle select menu (the one with all the vehicle icons) this should close the session down with the ECU correctly and should sync the plip. If this doesn't work PM me and we can investigate further.

Cheers!

Just a follow-up. I was never able to get a used key to program successfully. Bit the bullet and bought a new one for $130, programmed just fine. I don't think the iLAND device can program a used key.

No, the iLand can't do it, even with the generated codes. Other tools can. iLand can only program new fobs. Not sure why that limitation exists considering other, less expensive tools can do it.
