Hi all,

I am new to this forum and also new to landrovers in general

I have just bought my self a Series 2 landrover with a 2.5TD engine and a series gearbox.

My problem lies when it comes to engaging the yellow **** for the 4x4 high range since once i press it in and drive a couple of meters, it just disengages again(popps back up!).

Did any one encounter such a problem or may suggest what the cause might be?

 

I believe there is a spring that holds the shifter into gear.
That spring must be weak if it keeps popping back out.

Can this spring be changed or fixed? And does this mean that gearbox(transferbox) needs to be dislodged and opened?
