I just bought a 2004 RR HSE and both of the keys' rubber lock buttons are so worn that they are smashed inside....even when I pop them out they smash back in....
I asked stealer and they said to replace the button/key it would be around 250 to replace the key?!?!?!?....just for this rubber button?!?!?!?
anyone have any alternatives please?

 

I've got a dying remote as well..dealer quoted me 185 for my '01. He said the cost was due to the fact that they are hand cut in England, but he did say that after '02 or so they were laser cut and much cheaper....unfortunately your experience would prove otherwise[:@].

They should make a valet key that will get you in and out, but that would be without the remote entry. If you're trying to save the remote entry feature, I would look into some aftermarket security systems with their own transmitters. The problem I ran into with that was that the special LR bypass that is required cost about $150..making the entire setup far more expensive than replacing the key.

I just go without the remote entry

 

As far as I know the button pads are not servicable at this time! so you have toreplace the entire remote. I will research and try to get a more deffinative answer 4 you.
