Hi gang,
I just bought a really nice 1966 Land Rover Series IIa which runs really well, but I noticed there is an odd "knock-knock-knock" bout 3 times when I've almost coasted to a stop.
It happens at about 3 mph just as the truck is coming to a stop in neutral. It sounds like it's coming from underneath the trans. It goes away at a complete stop, and never happens as I accelerate or at regular speeds.
Any clue?
I'd really be grateful for your help or thoughts.

Thanks, ajh. I'll do that.
I did notice that when I took delivery today, the front right free wheeling hub was turned "on" and the left front was not. I switched the right front "off".Then I noticed the knocking. A couple of days ago when I assumed it was like this (one on, one off) I didn't hear that knocking. Could that play any role?
Any risk in continuing to drive it gently this weekend in your opinion?
Could I hurt anything?
Thanks so much for your generous advice.
