Landrover Reliabilty Data
I ran across this statement in a nother forum.
I understand anyone can makes statements, what I am interested in is the Statisticle numbers that he Quoted above 156 per 1000. Where can this data be found and does anyone here have any insite.
I will be keeping my Rover for years even if I have to change every part on it.I did not but it for any other reason other than I like the way it looks, plus i do go off road.
Land rovers have a 156 per 1000 problem rate, almost TWICE that of jeep. They are THE SINGLE MOST UNRELIABLE CAR AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE IN THE USA

What I would like to see would be a comparison based on catastrophic failures -engine, drive-line, etc. I would also like to see a comparo that compensates for our added systems. What I mean by that is let's say Jeeps don't have air suspensions or ACE so throw those problems out. 40% of Jeeps don't have auto climate control (made that number up) so compensate for that etc. or at least take the totally basic models out of the lineup. I seriously couldn't even guess what the outcome would be but I would think we would stand up a lot better.
I can't figure out how in the above links we seem to do better but the Jeep is higher rated. The cost to fix the jeep problems is also higher. Go figure.

I have 190K on my 99 series 1 and have only replaced the water pump, some seals on the power steering box ,the viscous fan clutch and someU joints- aside from maintenance items like plugs, wires, brakes, rotors, tires etc.
This has been the single most reliable vehicle I've ever owned.
Im not disputing the statistics, but alot of it has to do with care and regular maintenance in my opinion. All auto makers will throw out a lemon from time to time.
