Default major electrical failure??

Hi, My first post. Glad to see the expert are at hand somewhere.
My 96 Disco1 was driveing fantastic, then it started flashing lights all over the dash and started to loose power. Picked back up then a while latter went dark and shut down in about 30 seconds.
Batery conections are fine and new.
Could I have lost the voltage regulator??
Is there one??
Did this ever happen to anyone else. Love the little car but many electrical problems. I think it may have dove some sub duty before I got to it.
Thanks, BigMike

Hi, Thanks for the responce.
They were all the warning lights...duh....should have thought of the alternator sooner. Have one on order.
Thats what caused the car to slowly stop working. It was running the battery down.
I can't believe it took me so long to get to that.
I guess because my discovery actually an electrical scince kit, with lots of little projects, I was thinking too complicated.
I still think that all the electrical problems are from a wet ride at one point.
Are all the bad switches and relays common on land rovers??
Thanks for the responce.

The new alternator fixed those problems plus a couple more. All the dash lights work now and the car runs except the cruise still won't work.
Dash is much brighter.
