Default Misfires freelander diesel 1998 / L314 engine

Hello Freelandists,

Where is the "cam position sensor" in short the small camshaft position socket on my diesel engine which seems to be an L314??
my freelander is 1998 rover engine.
I am told that this sensor is located between the gearbox and the engine, therefore on the clutch bell housing.
Do I have to remove the air filter box to access it or go under the engine.
I have misfires when accelerating and the engine idles at 1200 rpm by itself, I manage to lower it to 850 rpm by gently pressing the pedal, but sometimes in neutral the engine revs up. alone up to 3500 revolutions 🤔

THANKS

I took this picture of my freelander motor
