Is it my alternator?
Got a problem...Hope someone can help... The battery light is on very dim when the engine starts up but goes out when driving or at high revs. U can hear a bit of screeching noise from engine which sounds like the drive belt slipping. But have replaced the belt and still no change.
Could it be the auto tensioner not putting enough tension on the belt? If so how do I correct it? My manual doesn't say how?
Also have noticed that when I put the indicators on, the trailer light flashes once and then goes out.
Have I got complete meltdown of the wiring sysytem?????? Is it a job that I can do or do I need the help of the garage?
Cheers

I had something similar happen to my 95 Disco last year, the squealing turned out to be the rear alternator bearing. My "trailer" symbol blinks once also when using the indicators (with no trailer attached). It's done that every since I added the trailer wiring kit adapter and doesn't seem to be a problem after about three years.
If you have a voltmeter, see how much voltage is at the battery with the engine running, should be something like 14v or so with it a bit above idle speed.
Good luck,
Brian
