My experience with panhard bushings
For my ‘97 D1, I did the job on the ground with tires centred. Being 25 years old, the new bushings may not fit into the slots well, for I had to shave off just over 1/2 of a millimeter (very tiny for the non-metric folks). 88 N/m is the magic number for tightening, and a small mallet is good to have. The bushings were the rubberized from Eurospare. In removing the old bushings, a gear puller did the job rather awkwardly, so to bring the bar to a garage to do the dirty work of 30 minutes is worth it.
The lesson: measure the connection slots so that the bushings will fit snuggly, and file accordingly.
