I am brand new to the forum and new to the Land Rover world. Bought a 1998 Disco 1 yesterday with 138,000 miles. Brought it home and noticed that the key fobs didn't work and if I locked the doors, they would instantly unlock.

Today changed the batteries in the key fobs, and neither are working. Was curious as to how to lock the doors and keep them locked.

Got inside, shut the doors and locked them manually. They stayed locked.

WHen I tried starting the Disco, the alarm activated and the red light began flashing on the dash.

Driver door lock is broken, so I can't reset the anti theft using the key. Engine won't start.

Is there a way to bypass the imobilizer and allow the engine to start without replacing the lock, or getting a working key fob?

I will eventually change the lock, just have a long list of things I play to do the the D1 first.
