Default New to Discovery I

After searching for the last three months, I finally purchased a '98 Discovery. The car checked out for a 82,000 ml auto. It was dealer maintained for it's first four years, but don't know after that. As with my normal OVER maintance, it's time to change all fluids, belts, plugs, ect. Is there any significant advantage with synthetic oils over dino ??? How about plugs ?? Is the any tricks that must be followed to flush the brake fluid??? Any infor on where it start is GREATLY appreciated.. The nearest LR dealer is about 80 mls away in Indy .. Thanks in advance...

Hi !

Oil: any good all-purpose 20W50 from a reputable brand (e.g. Pennzoil) will do.

Plugs: one brand: Champion.

Brake fluid flush: easiest way: put length of plastic tube on each bleeder, tube goes into some jar. Open master cylinder reservoir, open bleeders, let seep out, pump brake pedal occasionally, let seep overnight, pump. That ought to get most out of the system.

Belts: do not forget timing belt, if any.

There is no such thing as over-maintenance.

Regards,

Takeo.
