Default New to land rover... Any suggestions?

Just purchased a 2000 land rover discovery 2. With that said, i went in on this deal knowing that the trans is junk. So besides the obvious repairs... What are some good updates or troublesome issues that these things have? I figure since the transmission will be out i might as well take care of common issues that everyone else has. Thanks for any info and it is greatly appreciated!

look at this page (major service link below, it goes to a thread in this forum) and go to the beginning. Mike has a great write up on the service that needs to be done on these. Double check your front drive shaft immediately. You don't want a new transmission and have it break and tear out your newly done trans. Mine had two major cracks at the ujoint and was about ready to go. Mine is out being redone right now. Also good write ups if you want to do it yourself.

If I were going to replace a transmission, I would do the rear main/crank seal on the engine, and probably the input shaft seal on the transmission. Assuming that you might be keeping your old transfer case, I'd address any leaking it might be doing too.
