Default new oil pressure switch is 1 prong not 2

i have to change out a oil pressure switch in a 1998 land rover disco 1 ( my baby) but the part isnt the same. The land rover company told me this is the new one they sell. the old oil pressure regulator switch has two prongs and plugs in next to the starter, i actually broke it changing the starter. Well the new one i bought is a single prong. My question is how in the world do i get this to fit

Is this a V8?

Not sure you even broke the OPS, since it's located on the front cover of the engine. You can barely see it, never mind hit it with anything. I think you should probably figure out what you actually broke. Knock sensor is near the starter, best guess is you broke that.

I had the oil pressure switch diagnosed as the problem it was actually broken off. I know it sounds hard to. I may change the knock sensor too. The reason the shop said it was the oil pressure switch was there was oil everywhere done under the engine

Is this what you damaged? Knock sensors have a bolt in them (D2) , both D1 and D2 are near the starter, oil switch turns into a threaded opening near the belt.

Disco 1 shouldn't have the two pin switch, even early Disco 2 had the one pin switch. It's possible they used a kit to adapt:

Switch Oil Pressure W/Adapter Harness - BOSCH Engine - Land Rover kits from Atlantic British

If so, you should be able to just remove the adapter and plug the harness into the one pin switch. If not, buy a switch for a 2000+ disco 2.

Switch - Oil Pressure (BOSCH Engine) (Part # NUC100280L) - Land Rover switches/control unit/actuators from Atlantic British

Main thing is location - knock sensor very close to starter, oil psi switch very close to belt. So where did you break it?

You did NOT brake off your oil PSI switch, it is located on the front passenger side of the engine right above the oil filter on the V8.
Just because the engine is covered in oil means nothing other than you have a leak.

You were absolutely right. It was the knocking sensor. Could this cause oil to go under my engine or do you both. I am replacing the knocking sensor tomorrow. Thanks guys. Why are some of te symptoms of a broken knocking switch. I might as well replace both since I have then

The knock sensors control engine timing to prevent spark knock.
If you have both of them, would not hurt to replace them both.
Spark knock, lack of power, a check engine light for a bad knock sensor would all be symptoms of a bad one.
