Default (Newbie) RPM meter not working,please help

Hey,
I just bought my first car which is a 98' Land rover discovery a couple of years ago and out of the blue my rpm meter stopped working and literaly stays at zero.I'm just now learning on how to work on cars andI could sure use some help with this problem.Thanks

The problem is most likely your alternator. Check all of the wires on it. A lot of times people can pull off the wires, clean up the connections and it works right from that. If not you may have a bad one, which you should have replaced. I'd check atlanticbritish.com for a new one. Let us know what happens

Well I went outside earlier to look at the wires on my alternator andI noticed a wire missingthat snaps on.So I was looking around and found it then plugging it in to see what happens,and it works! Thanks a lot for your help Hazlet,I really appreciate it.
