no fire to number one spark plug wire
i have fire at ignition coil, i have checked all fuses and relay, i have checked rotor buttun, ignition module. what else can i check to see why not getting fire at #1 spark plug wire???? this is a 95 discovery with a 3.9 engine!! engine turns over and starter is new!!! it will not crank!!! thanks patrick
the engine turns over!!!!! i am doing the old trick of putting screw driver in end of #1 wire and holding to any metal surface at engine or other area to create arc or spark!! PLEASE HELP MIKE!!!! THANKS
is there another way of trying to check fire at number one than what i am doing????? the wires are new!!! how do i know there is a bad dist.cap connection????? thanks Patrick
Wet the end of your little finger and put it in the spark plug lead on top of the cap. Just kidding. Some auto part stores sell plug wire testers that you can put next to a plug wire and see if it fires, for me, I would switch the number one wire with another of the same length and see what happens.
Mike thanks for the help!!! i have fire at number one and coil!!! My next problem is she is turning over but not starting!!!!!! i have fuel at fuel rail coming from shrader valve!!!! i also hear fuel relay under dash board clicking when i turn key!!! how do i check to see if fuel injectors are working and also if fuel pump is working!! If any other ideas please tell me!!! thanks so much!! Patrick
The only thing that would stop the injectors from firing would be the crank sensor, usually.
Do you have a good OHM meter and know how to use it, if so you can use it to see if your injectors are firing.
You might also spray some carb cleaner into the t/body and then try to start the engine, if it fires up for a second or so, this is good.
