Default And now I have grey hair!

Hi all

I am having dramas. I was driving back from Scotland in my discovery 1 when it slowly started dying and losing power. I came to a halt, rested for a mins and then turned the engine over again...it turns over but fails to start. I (embarrassingly) got the AA to get me home.

Now the drama that turning me grey(er); It seems (from my very limited exp) that it is a fuel starvation problem. I have changed the fuel filter and the lift pump (please excuse me if I get the terminlogy wrong!) and the engine turns over really well but just fails to start and kick in.

My OH is really enjoying watching me struggling with this in a sadistic kind of way!! ;-)

Any help or things to try would be most appreciated

Hmmm now then mate, that sounds like it maybe out of my experience? However, I am willing to learn and try anything, and hopefully in years to come pass on what I have learnt

Depends. Not a huge deal. If you have a shop manual and reasonable set of tools you should be able take care of it.

BTW, where were you when it died? If you were coming down the A1 from Edinburgh way there's a Rover shop in Alnwick called Mastora, and another one in near Newcastle called...bugger, the name escapes me. If you travel up that way much, let me know and I'll find it. Always good to know where the local specialists are

I have a couple of manuals, a half decent set of tools, free time, and a great forum!! I just wouldnt know where to start......would this be in the haynes manual?

I was on the A66, just come off the M6 up Cumbria way, and the weather was awful.....does it get any better on the Yorkshire Moors??

I've never checked the Haynes manual for that, but I'm guessing it's in there.
You can also download the factory manual in pdf format. Google "RAVE site:green-oval.com" without the quotes.

I'd say go for it on the DIY.
