Which ODBII tool?

Which ODBII tool?
So I see Hawkeye for around $600 and others for $200-$300 and even bluetooth devices I can use with my iPhone for under $20.
Can I get some thoughts on why to spend many hundreds for this tool when I can spend vastly less?
Bottom line is I don't mind spending money on tools,, but I don't want to waste it...
Thanks

Pick up an Ultra Gauge for like 69 bucks. It's a quasi engine monitoring system that allows you to rest codes and see pending codes in real time. The Haweye (to my understanding) gets to talk to more of the Rovers computers, i.e. abs, tranny and other control modules.

Or buy a 3130 Innova from Amazon for around $130.
One plus to buying a real scanner is it won't give false or non-Rover fault code numbers like many of the cell phone soft ware will.
Beside a real scanner will give you information, snap shot or real time so you can down load it on your computer and save for references later.

yes i have a Hawkeye
and no $100 OBDII meter is going to come close to what a Hawkeye can do.
A Hawkeye will not only read the engine information that an OBDII, you can also communicate and make changes with all the computers in your truck, trans, SLS, Ace, ABS,Body.
A for instance, say your window will not operate, plug in the Hawkeye go to body, pick the window that does not work and see if it operated with the Hawkeye, if it does you just eliminated all motor, electrical and fuse problems without opening a toll box. Now switch to live and operate the window switch, the Hawkeye will tell you if the switch is good or not, once again never even opened the tool box yet you have diagnosed your problem.
It is the same for door locks, wipers, lights, sunroofs, heaters, seats etc..
You need to bleed you brakes go to the ABS section pick which wheel you want to bleed hold the button down and the abs system will bleed that wheel.
If you have Ace or SLS it is even a more valuable tool

I'd get this one:
Abs scanner - Land Rover Forums : Land Rover and Range Rover Forum
Reports are that it WILL read D2 abs codes. And it's less than $200 on amazon.
