Overheating/Thermo
Hopefully someone here has seen this before (have taken it to LR Retailer/Service and found nothing):
2000 Disc II temp gauge will soar into the red every other day. I just had the dealer install a brand new radiator, thermostat heater plate, thermostat, and serpentine belt installed on 14 Aug 2007.
It's burning through 1/2 gallon of coolant every other day. Totally depletes the coolant reservoir. The dealer says they tried to "force" it to overheat to replicate the problem but have found nothing.
Anyone out there with this experience? Bueler, bueler?
Thanks guys, Gary

You have to be burning it off if it is not intermixing with the oil or leaking out on to the ground.
I agree with the last post, need to have a coolant pressure test done.

agree with others. if there's no obvious external leaks it sounds like a bad headgasket. they'll need to put air into the cylinders to confirm it. i just did a set on a 02' discoII a couple of weeks ago. those were leaking externally though.

My 2002 Disco Series II is losing roughy 1/2 gal coolant emptying resivour every 24 hours. No coolant on the ground. Your previous post in 2007 recommends coolant pressure test for head gasket. If I need to replace the head casket how much does that cost?
Thanks

Pat, you need to stop driving that engine before it is fried, I mean today.
Where do you live, do you have to take it to a dealer, I hope not?
If you have a good mechanic and depending on the mileage on the engine and the condition of the heads, you will be looking to pay $1400 to $1700, Rover parts parts and labor, assuming there is no head damage.
