P0741 Error code!!! Help stalling
Hi im having fun with my rover again. I recently got the p0741 error code torque converter stuck off. Im going to check my trans fluid levels tonight. I recently have been stalling out when i decelerate is this error code causing the stalling? bought the rover about 5k miles ago no big service done to it but ive done plenty of work to it already. Please let me know what you guys think might be causing me to stall.
If the torque converter is not unlocking it will cause the engine to stall when slowing down, the engine will lug and then stall.
Ever driven a stick shift and not downshifted when slowing down? And the engine bogged down and then quit, thats what will happen.
If you can find it, you can unplug the torque converter and drive for a few days and see if the problem goes away.
I had this problem on a Oldsmobile, unplugged the torque converter and problem was solved, drove it that way for 5 years.
The only thing that will happen is you will lower your MPG it will not harm anything.
In my case I needed a new transmission, your case may be different.

What Spike said, and FYI torque converter signal from tranny ECU is on connector C0193 under the seat, pin 32, a slate and orange wire (gray and orange if you like). Also present at tranny connector below truck, but repairs to cable harness there adds waterproofing to the mix. Operates MV 3, the lock up valve. Here's a pix. [Note: It is suggested you have tranny shop evaluate the unit before taking this step. Provided for info only, not a regular shop practice. But Spike did say "unplug the torque converter"]

it doesnt bother me to much becuase it will get right back into gear its just annoying when im coming to a slow stop and i can feel it lokcing up and then i have to rev it back up into gear. Is it damaging anything?
